Graham Festenstein PLDA is an independent lighting designer with over 15 years experience, encompassing: theatre, gallery, event, concert, exhibition, and architectural lighting. Including interior, exterior, residential, commercial and lighting for public spaces. Projects are undertaken from a creative perspective with emphasis on lighting as an integral part of the design process. Using the philosophy that the lighting designer is part of the design team and that lighting is not just a add on engineering exercise, ensures that clients, designers and architects work is not compromised and designers concepts can be fulfilled. A combination of skills acquired working with professional audio and audio-visual industries alongside sound technical experience of control and electrical systems makes us ideally suited to work on integrated projects from interactive museum exhibits through to high tech residential projects. With extensive experience in the management of public buildings and having held senior management roles in both the public and private sectors, he is fully appreciative of the clients perspective as well as that of the Designer and Consultant. This unique combination of skills and experience enables projects to be undertaken not only with artistic and design flair but also with great sensitivity to the clients needs and requirements. Providing design work that is not only exciting and innovative but also practical and user friendly. As an independent designer Graham Festenstein is not linked in any way to particular manufacturers, suppliers or contractors. Design work is focussed on the needs of the project and the client. The most appropriate products are specified from the widest range of manufacturers and suppliers. This gives the freedom to ensure the best, most Innovative and exciting lighting solutions can be attained on any project for the budget available. As well as a full design service Graham Festenstein can provide technical consultancy for designers or artists to help to transform concepts into finished work |

Graham Festenstein started his career as a lighting designer in theatre. Working in London and across the UK he also toured extensively in North America and Australia. For a period of time he worked in technical and building management where he gained practical experience in the operation of public licensed buildings and the design and management of building projects from a clients perspective. Moving back into lighting design he lit numerous public and corporate events, exhibitions, theatre and concerts. Graham Festenstein then worked for several years as a senior designer for a major London consultancy where he gained experience in a wide variety of work, including project lighting designer for six millennium projects ranging from major new museums through to urban regeneration schemes. During this time he worked with clients and lead consultants such as Wilkinson Ayre Architects; MaCormac, Jamieson and Prichard; Foster and Partners; The Design Museum London; The National Museum of Ireland and several local authorities across the UK. In the summer of 2001 he left the consultancy to pursue his own work as an independent designer.
